we sponsored the party..

yeah we did. We sponsored it. At least the tax money from our families would have contributed to it.

Won't have been as annoyed if it was ah neh. It probably wasn't ah neh. When these featherless shuttle cocks smoked and opened their windows, we heard their conversation and we heard what language it was. Bloody hell, took tax payer's money to come here and party, smoked, and left ashes on my car!

To top if off, they put up a notice the next day." We apologise in ADVANCE if we have disturbed you. Today is my birthday and a perfect reason to party."

What in advance? After people complained? It wasnt even there in the next morning. It only appeared when we came back late an night.

So, it was your birthday, and the whole block have to put up with your loud music at 3 am in teh morning, so that you can have your birthday party? Get lost! If everyone has a right to keep to whole block up if it is their birthday, we will have a party every week.

It is 2 minutes to 12 o'clock, and the flat of above you is having party.

Ah neh music
Ah neh dance.
Pounding the dance floor-which is my ceiling.

DO you think i should go up with a cleaver or a broomstick.

My peace in this block of flat of civilised neighbour get disrupted because of this stupid ah neh. Damn it.

Another CNY

This was my third CNY here.

CNY here is different from CNY at home.

There is no new clothes, and no ang pows, no decorations etc. We also did not have the usual CNY food like lap chiong, cookies, etc. Most of these things could be bought here, but they are very expensive. Moreover, this year, the 1st day of CNY fell in the middle of the week, where it is just another normal working day.

Nevertheless, we had friends over for a steamboat. Steamboat is becoming a norm for us, I guess. It is the simplicity of wash, cut, dump and eat. That leaves a lot of time for talk talk talk. And this is also the "dish" which allowed us to have chicken, pork, fish, cuttlefish, prawns, crab.. etc without sweating it out or burn a deep hole in the pocket.

Yes, there is something missing. In fact, I found that I could hardly "detect" or "feel" another year had passed. Time just seem to flow continuously, without some punctuations which mark the beginning of another year. Every day is just another day. The only sign of passing time is the change of seasons. Change of activities. Change in the clothes you need to wear. Change in the number of hours you need to sleep. And as winter is coming to a close, the cherry trees begin to blossom.

That is life... am I missing anything?

What is a moon cake festival, minus the mooncakes?

I only realised that it was mooncake festival yesterday when i called my sis to tell her not to use my credit card. It nearly hit the limit with my latest shopping, and i still need some for my travels next month. Oah, i miss home. Ma & pa celebrated them with the three beauties, our dogs have replaced us as we grow up and left home.

:( This is the second year i "celebrate" moon cake festival- my fav festival, without even a tiny slice of moon cake in my mouth. Those were the times I stuff my moon face with moon cakes, nvm if they are worth a nice 900-1200 calorie per cake. That is why i don't just eat any moon cake- I am a snob. I have been extremely picky about my moon cakes. I only eat good quality ones- those my mum makes, or those that are "up to standard"! My mum make decent lower fat and less sweet versions, and my aunt would feed me with shangrila, tung lok....whichever is the best for that year. But these two years- I have nothing. Nothing! Not even those S$5/tube horrible looking & tasting black black "tau sa" ones!

I supposed i should not complain too much. I went shopping, and bought a car. Now i have no money for anything!!!! 2nd year without moon cakes!!!!! Now that I have a car again, I hope that my 5-6 hour daily commute is totally history, and I have time to update my blog again. I have tonnes of things to add, especially the Scotland photos.

eventful?

So many things in 2 days!

  1. 2nd uncle passed away-Cant help but feel sad and helpless. I would have know earlier about how bad it was if my phone was on while i happily ramble in scotland. This is one of more decent uncles from my dad's side, and he has a wife who dotes on us, and kids who we get along very well with. In other words, I will miss him somehow, even though we are not close. Just wish to be around my parents, who I am sure are feeling terribly upset, and my cousins, who I know are under great pressure. The stupid medicine from some conman sinseh totally wiped out their savings! Sigh. Cant help but feel that if I am around, conman sinseh wont have that much power.
  2. got to go for lunch with that bastard yesterday, to sort out our relationship- what a fakie! What relationship? Who is the one who constantly shoot me stupid emails? That is the first time I ever reply to some stupid provocative email, and I had to go for lunch! Fair? So I am suppose to keep my mouth shut and not question him?
  3. London day time and London night time is different. Some dodgy looking character was following me, and getting really close to me and had his hand near my handbag! I gave him a stare- bad mood stare, and he ******off! Sun sets before 8 these days!
  4. There is a bloody racist ane bus driver on the bus I have to take everyday! He has a thing against the blacks. Every day, some blacks will be told to get off, or get shouted. He gets abusive, and will threaten the passengers! Bloody idiot will stop the bus many times, just to have arguments and force the passengers to get off. One day, I will witness a fight. I somehow hope that he really gets bashed! Calling the passengers abusive when he is the one who abuses them!

Tube strike

Why on earth do we need to suffer because some people's income is not guaranteed?? No sympathy for the tube workers who are on strike!

Car in needs repair, me too.

I burnt the chicken for dinner. This is the first time my standard had dropped since I moved to this place- with a proper oven. When you have bad luck, everything just happens.

Some tube burst on Monday, and I had to call the roadside repair thing. Yesterday, we went to the garage o get it repaired, but more problems came up. Now the car in on assisted survival. Maybe will last a couple more days until i get a new car, or a new job.

I missed the appointment with the GP. I had wanted to walk to the GP, but hubby was at the garage and I had to go alone. I was walking on a main road towards the estate, and I chickened out halfway after seeing who walked from the other directions. The further I walk, the less pedestrians were on the road. I felt like walking towards another civilisation---every person who walked towards me was really dodgy looking, and bl***. The GP is located within a council estate where everything is barb-wired, is "war zone".

New home soon.

Viewed the allocated apartment this morning. Not that bad!

Thank goodness. Not facing the hospital directly, facing the college instead. Train tracks still a problem, but it is something which we will have to live with.

Space is huge, compared to what we have at the moment. Finally, we will have a proper living room. We have been living without a living room for more than 1 year now.

I hope that we can stay in this place for a couple of years. Hate to move anymore.

Left behind ...........

Today I am "left behind" - hubby and gang are going to White Cliff! haiz... that is a place i have always wanted to go, but can't go when the opportunity comes.

I am staying at home. Mugging, working, and yes, this bit of blogging.

Look forward and yet dread going back in 2 weeks time. Argh! May got to be a record month, Washington, NYC, Singapore. 3 consecutive trips. I calculated that I will spend 40++ hours flying this month.

finished the Bak Kua..

We finished the Bak Kua, in 4 days. 8 precious pieces between us.

My friends have been angels- they bring me Bak Kua whenever they come! Haha... I think everyone knows that I love to eat.

ET brought almost 1kg of the thing near CNY, and worried about being caught. Hers was a normal packaging. The first time smuggler just hoped that no one would suspect a gal in business class smuggling.

EC is probably a much more experience smuggler, and brought a vacuum packed box. Gosh, that is a very costly version of Bak Kua, each slice preciously packed. She also lugged here two boxes of laksa and curry mix. That got my cravings settled till I go home :)

I will cook the laksa in an authentic manner, having discovered Hoo Hing C&C at Park Royal. That is a HUGE chinese supermarket!! Being a distributor, their stuff are really fresh! The bean sprout were so crunchy, and the tofu and to fu pok were fresh :)

Argh, the gals know me well. I am so touched. Hmm.. I wonder if I will get durian one of these days. Ok, I know that is too greedy, but I can start wishing :)
