What is a moon cake festival, minus the mooncakes?

I only realised that it was mooncake festival yesterday when i called my sis to tell her not to use my credit card. It nearly hit the limit with my latest shopping, and i still need some for my travels next month. Oah, i miss home. Ma & pa celebrated them with the three beauties, our dogs have replaced us as we grow up and left home.

:( This is the second year i "celebrate" moon cake festival- my fav festival, without even a tiny slice of moon cake in my mouth. Those were the times I stuff my moon face with moon cakes, nvm if they are worth a nice 900-1200 calorie per cake. That is why i don't just eat any moon cake- I am a snob. I have been extremely picky about my moon cakes. I only eat good quality ones- those my mum makes, or those that are "up to standard"! My mum make decent lower fat and less sweet versions, and my aunt would feed me with shangrila, tung lok....whichever is the best for that year. But these two years- I have nothing. Nothing! Not even those S$5/tube horrible looking & tasting black black "tau sa" ones!

I supposed i should not complain too much. I went shopping, and bought a car. Now i have no money for anything!!!! 2nd year without moon cakes!!!!! Now that I have a car again, I hope that my 5-6 hour daily commute is totally history, and I have time to update my blog again. I have tonnes of things to add, especially the Scotland photos.

eventful?

So many things in 2 days!

  1. 2nd uncle passed away-Cant help but feel sad and helpless. I would have know earlier about how bad it was if my phone was on while i happily ramble in scotland. This is one of more decent uncles from my dad's side, and he has a wife who dotes on us, and kids who we get along very well with. In other words, I will miss him somehow, even though we are not close. Just wish to be around my parents, who I am sure are feeling terribly upset, and my cousins, who I know are under great pressure. The stupid medicine from some conman sinseh totally wiped out their savings! Sigh. Cant help but feel that if I am around, conman sinseh wont have that much power.
  2. got to go for lunch with that bastard yesterday, to sort out our relationship- what a fakie! What relationship? Who is the one who constantly shoot me stupid emails? That is the first time I ever reply to some stupid provocative email, and I had to go for lunch! Fair? So I am suppose to keep my mouth shut and not question him?
  3. London day time and London night time is different. Some dodgy looking character was following me, and getting really close to me and had his hand near my handbag! I gave him a stare- bad mood stare, and he ******off! Sun sets before 8 these days!
  4. There is a bloody racist ane bus driver on the bus I have to take everyday! He has a thing against the blacks. Every day, some blacks will be told to get off, or get shouted. He gets abusive, and will threaten the passengers! Bloody idiot will stop the bus many times, just to have arguments and force the passengers to get off. One day, I will witness a fight. I somehow hope that he really gets bashed! Calling the passengers abusive when he is the one who abuses them!

Tube strike

Why on earth do we need to suffer because some people's income is not guaranteed?? No sympathy for the tube workers who are on strike!

Open House London 15-16 sept 2007

One of the best "festivals" in London- described as "Architecture in the Flesh" is the Open House London (www.openhouse.org.uk) event. I think they had something similar last year, but this year's sounds really exciting as many buildings are opening their doors for the public to visit- FREE!!! I don't think i want to miss out on the good fun of snooping around "private" buildings. Some of the places are those which you will normally have to "pay" eg kensington palace. However, you may need to email and reserve a place- info could be found on the website.

I am itching to join the Maggie's and Open House London Night Hike 2007 which promised 17 miles of exclusive routevexclusive access to some of London's most prominent buildings and landmarks including Guildhall, The Royal Geographical Society, The British Airways London Eye, Whiteley's, The Royal Festival Hall and City Hall. However, the £25 registration fees and £250 fund raising target put me off!!! Where am I going to harass that much money out of my friends?

I am thinking of targeting some weird and curious buildings like the Hoover building or the Green Build. Any other weird, curious, spooky ones?
